Contribute to the journal

Help us read the work well.

Open Margin needs reviewers, editors, and advisors who can give student authors clear comments they can use.

Ways to contribute

Different roles. One standard.

We look for relevant experience and careful readers. Every contributor agrees to confidentiality, conflict disclosure, and fair feedback.

01

Student reviewers

Read blinded manuscripts with a shared rubric and write comments the author can use.

02

Section editors

Check fit, coordinate reviews, and make decisions with the editorial team.

03

Academic advisors

Help with calibration, specialist questions, and hard decisions. Student editors keep the lead.

04

Research communication volunteers

Help with copyediting, citations, accessibility, and author resources.

Before an invitation

We explain the work before an invitation.

New reviewers start with the public rubric, sample reviews, and a calibration exercise. Editors assign work only when the field, capacity, and conflicts fit. No contributor reviews work by a classmate, collaborator, relative, or mentee.
